What's the Difference Between Menstrual Cups and Menstrual Discs?

This is a question we often hear from clients: Should I try the menstrual cup or menstrual disc? Here's some information to help you decide!

For starters, the biggest difference between cups and discs is where they're placed to collect your menstrual blood. The standard menstrual cup fits in the middle of the vaginal canal.

Discs, on the other hand, fit above the vaginal canal, right below the cervix. This means that discs keep your vaginal canal "all clear," and this, my friends, changes everything 😉

Menstrual Cup vs Menstrual Disc

Discs also have higher capacity, collecting up to 60 mL. You can use then for up to 12 hours at a time.

Our menstrual discs come with a string to help with removal. We're also the only company that makes three different sizes to fit short, medium and high cervixes. Menstrual discs also don't need suction to stay in place, meaning greater comfort for you. And since the disc doesn’t stay in the middle of the vaginal canal, you get perhaps the best benefit of all: mess-free period sex! 😍  🎉

We hope this helps clarify the differences between our products. If you have any questions, please get in touch: contact@lummacups.com ✉️
